In large corporations and internationally operating companies, terms such as "Corporate Social Responsibility" or "Corporate Governance" are commonly used. This is intended to describe a social or corporate responsibility. These terms are always concerned with (inter-)nationally recognized standards of holistic and responsible corporate management. Extensive measures are used to install certified management systems and adopt ethical codes.
Not too long ago, there was the concept of the "honest merchant". Two words that describe a sincere, responsible and social attitude without paperwork, guidelines, codices or sophisticated certification systems. It was about partnership, honest business, fair treatment of the staff, honest tax figures and responsible management of resources.
And that is exactly what we want to be: honest merchants and outstanding engineers.
